Accuracy
We report only information we can attribute to a reliable source. We do not invent statistics, quotations, interviews, sources or events. Where information cannot be verified, we leave it out or the article is not published.
Sourcing
We prioritise primary sources such as the Bank of England, the Office for National Statistics, HM Land Registry, GOV.UK and official industry data. Other publications are used to discover stories and are credited where relevant. See our Sources and Attribution Policy.
Fact, forecast and opinion
Mortgage and market articles clearly separate confirmed facts from forecasts and opinions. We do not suggest that a change in Bank Rate automatically produces an equal change in mortgage rates.
Financial promotions
Our content is general news and is not intended as an invitation or inducement to take out any financial product. Content that may fall within financial promotion rules is screened and held for manual review. Screening and review are not a substitute for any approval legally required.
Expert commentary
Expert quotations are published only after the contributor has explicitly approved the final wording. Any material relationship between a contributor and the publisher is disclosed.
Bylines
Articles are bylined to one of our named reporters, each covering a beat. Older articles may carry the byline "The Property Archive Newsroom".
